03.07.16 – Cycling through Duong Lam, Hanoi, Vietnam

This week was made extra special by some of Nathan’s family (Gary, Rechelle and Micah) coming to visit us in Vietnam. The highlight of our time together in Hanoi was our guided cycling tour through the ancient village of Duong Lam, located just outside Hanoi. It was really incredible to see an old Vietnamese village, relatively untouched, up close.

We spent a few hours exploring the town and the nearby rice fields, stopping at the Mong Phu temple and temples dedicated to national heroes Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung. The trip was capped off with a traditional Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant, which was a local’s house that had been lived in for seven generations. The spring rolls were amazing.
